The Valknut (pronounced "VAL-knoot") is a symbol in Norse mythology depicting three interlocked triangles.
The Valknut symbol has appeared on several runestones and memorial stones dating back from the Viking Age in Sweden and Norway.
The meaning of this symbol is still unclear, however, it is believed to have a strong connection with the transition from life to death and death to life since it only appears in connection with runestones and ship burials. It has also been found on cremation urns of the Anglo-Saxons.
In most cases, the Norse god Odin, or symbols that are closely associated with him is also featured alongside the Valknut.
The name Valknut is a modern Norwegian word and means "slain warrior knot"
